Working Sundays and holidays in Poland: a day off, or 100%
Nearly everyone has this rule backwards. For working a Sunday you are owed another day off by default — the 100% supplement is what is left when a day off could not be given.
The order is exactly this
1You worked a Sunday — the employer is obliged to give you another day off, within the six calendar days before that Sunday or after it.
2If that was not possible, the day off can be moved to the end of the settlement period.
3If that failed too, then every hour worked on that Sunday carries a 100% supplement.
The day off is whole, however little you worked
Came in for two hours to cover someone? The day off is still a full day. It is owed for the fact of working the Sunday, not in proportion to the hours.
This is the single most common place employers round in their own favour.
Public holidays in 2026
Fourteen statutory holidays this year. Four fall on a Sunday and two on a Saturday — for the Saturday ones your employer must designate another day off, which leaves ten actual days off for a Monday-to-Friday schedule.

Work on any of these days follows the same rule as a Sunday, except that the day off is given within the settlement period rather than in a six-day window.
Common questions
They gave me a day off AND no supplement. Is that right?
Yes, if the day off came in time — that is the primary route in the law. The 100% supplement is due when no day off was given.
What if Sunday is a normal working day on my rota?
Then it is not overtime, it is your schedule — but you still have a right to a free Sunday at a set frequency. Check the rules for your own working-time system.
Does a holiday work the same way?
Same scheme, but the day off for a holiday is given within the settlement period rather than the six-day window around it.
I worked a Sunday night. What do I get?
Two separate things: the Sunday rule above, and the night supplement of at least 20% of the minimum-wage hourly rate for every night hour. They stack.
